Stele of the 26 victims
Stele in tribute to the civilian victims who died on July 7, 1941 right here.
On July 7, 1941, a English bombardment claimed 26 civilian victims on today's Place Achille-Grandeau. The château de Kerléon was also badly damaged by bombing, as were the railway viaduct over the Anse de Kerhuon99 and an arch of the Albert-Louppe bridge. The stained glass windows of Notre-Dame church, designed by Louis-Charles-Marie Champigneulle (1853-1905) also disappeared under the effects of a bombardment.

World War II resulted in 126 deaths of people living in Le Relecq-Kerhuon, most of them young; 26American soldiers died in the commune, either directly in the fighting or after being wounded.

Lucien Argouach, born October 11, 1921 in Le Relecq-Kerhuon, worker at the Brest arsenal, member of the Secret Army, was shot on September 17, 1943 at Mont-Valérien.

Pierre Coatpéhen, who worked from the age of 17 at the Saint-Nicolas pyrotechnics plant, left for England, answering the Call of June 18, 1940 and was a member of the 2nd DB ; he was on the "Romilly " tank during the liberation of Paris on August 24, 1944, then contributed to the liberation of Strasbourg and the occupation of Hitler's eagle's nest
