Foy is occupied by German troops that American troops, installed in the Bois Jacques, prevent from advancing on Bastogne. The 101 American Airborne Division (the Easy Company) makes the assault in January 1945 and drives the Germans from Foy. Human losses on both sides were considerable. Traces of this battle are still visible, both on some of Foy's houses and in Jacques Wood, where "mouse holes" or "manholes" (also called Fox Hole in English) have survived the passage of time.
