The Pont-Aven cemetery is home to the graves of Joseph Tanguy and Francis Tanguy Pont-Aven rector Joseph Tanguy was gaullist from 1940. He hid STO draft dodgers, resistance fighters and American airmen (who fell at Bannalec). He was denounced, imprisoned at Saint Charles in Quimper, then deported to Buchenwald.
He died there on May 23, 1944. Vicar Francis Tanguy also rallied to the Resistance cause. He will be arrested at the same time as his rector and deported to Flossenbürg.
The abuse of the Kapos will get the better of him: he dies in September 1944.
