Osteck fulcrum

On the Carneville moors, north of the Maupertus airfield.
This position is impressive given the number of bunkers. mainly a radar center, but also Flak battery.
It boasts no fewer than 45 buried bunkers.
The commander of the d'Osteck strongpoint, Major Kuppers, does not envisage a surrender without a fight.
On June 20, a patrol is sent to test the complex's defenses. During the assault the Americans succeed in taking a bunker, Kuppers will not hesitate to fire on his own positions to dislodge the attackers.
General Barton will send "nothing but" the 22nd RI, the 5th Ranger Battalion, 2 tank battalions and an artillery regiment to finally achieve the surrender of Osteck on June 28 at 8am.
