This house was liberated at dawn on D-Day, June 6, 1944 by the men of the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada. They were the first Canadians to land on this beach. This was probably the first house liberated on French soil by the Allied Forces who came by sea. In front of this house, more than 100 men of the Queen's Own Rifles were killed or wounded wounded in the first minutes of the assault.
We will remember them
Inaugurated on June 6, 1997 by Regimental members and loved ones
