The HMCS Athabaskan is a World War II Canadian destroyer of the Tribal class, which took part in naval operations in the Channel against the German navy.

Together with Egret, she was severely damaged in the Bay of Biscay on August 27, 1943, by a German Henschel Hs 293 A1 anti-ship guided glide bomb.

She was sunk on April 29, 1944 off the Île Vierge lighthouse in a naval battle between an Allied flotilla and two German torpedo boats, the T27 and the T24, resulting in the death of 128 sailors. The T27 was also lost in the battle and ran aground near Kerlouan. The bodies of 60 sailors are buried in the Plouescat cemetery military plot.
